I have several Moonswatches- I love them, yes I own Rolex and even an Omega however this are fun it’s a take back to my youth and don’t pay no mind to the bad reviews. I live in Arizona and they hold well in the heat or when I ride the motorcycle. They are fun! They are not for the one thinking they are an Omega

I purchased the Mission to Uranus not expecting anything except it would match some outfits. I wore it to the beach and the blowing sand in the air ruined the plastic face. I wouldn’t recommend this watch to anyone at $25 price point let alone the $260. Also I find it odd this is not the only article that actually pretends this even compares to a real Speedmaster…. Not even in the same galaxy.

I had a significant amount of swatch watches and only one omega watch (women’s style doesn’t excite me) however, this will definitely give a lot of the watch makers mid-lower end “FASHION WATCHES” like Michelle, Fendi, Gucci, MK, etc etc… unisex watch sales a run for their money.

I fell for the hype initially and eventually my sister-in-law found me the Moon version while in Paris. Personally I was immediately disappointed with the weight, but thought it looked great. After about 2 days of wearing it I got a scratch on the mineral glass. That combined with the need for a more water resistant timepiece had me selling it used for about twice the price (even with the scratch). I found a Citizen Rado Controlled Blue Angels watch on sale for around the price I sold the Swatch for and jumped on it. Between the sapphire glass and the 200m water resistence I am much happier.

Picked up the ‘moon’ moonswatch this week as was pleasantly surprised. I really liked them when they were first released but quickly became disinterested with all the hype and the buying process. Then I spontaneously bought a used one for a more reasonable price this week. A lot has been said about the strap but I like it (switch the long part to the 6 position and it’s much more comfortable). I owned a 3861 speedie last year; I loved the look of it but I didn’t like the weight and fit of it (I prefer 36mm watches) so this lightweight version is perfect for me and I honestly get the same feeling when I look down and see the similar dial. If this is your one and only watch then perhaps you’d want higher quality but if it’s part of a collection to put on once a week for a fun change then I think it’s great.

It might be overpriced for what it is but so are all watches. Case in point, the much praised Tissot PRX auto is €400 more expensive than their quartz version when I’m sure the cost of their movement is a small fraction of that.

I’ve got various watches from Rolex to omega sea master. G shock all metal amongst others! I just recently acquired the mercury and for what it is very impressed it’s just a fun homage watch and it’s not been of my wrist since I got it. Just don’t take it too seriously and you’ll love it!

I’ve heard enough bad things about the Moonswatch to keep me away from it: super-scratchable glass, case color that bleeds onto the wearer’s wrist, chrono pushers that snap off with the slightest pressure. So, just bad overall quality compared to another Swatch–not a Speedy. Maybe a small group of YouTubers have simply conspired to slander the idea of a Moonswatch, for whatever reason, so it’d be nice to hear what some of you longer-term owners have to say about the quality (again, not compared to a Speedmaster).

Holy &%$# y’all are killing me. It’s a fun watch that pays homage to one of the most iconic watches of all time. That’s it. Leave it there. I love mine. I also love my Omega Speedmaster Pro. I did have to go to 3 stores in Spain before I found one in stock. We don’t have one in Denver so I tried there while on vacation. Found it in Madrid. So glad I did. Most of y’all are giving it WAY too much thought lol

This isn’t really a review of the watch but some contrivance to compare a fun, inexpensive take on a much more expensive original. I’ve collected for 20 yrs of watches from Seiko to vintage Rolex and vintage Blancpain and no one is expecting this Swatch to be held up to an original Speedmaster.
Why the review doesn’t simply cover this watch rather than a ridiculous comparison eludes me.

You have to be a complete airhead to review this BEAUTIFUL $270.00 watch, with the real McCoy. For the price, it is beautiful. I have more expensive watches and would have a blast wearing it. Nice conversation piece.

It’s a great time piece that honours the fine design of Omega. Good for Omega and Swatch for making collector watches more available to the rest of us who don’t have a big nose to look down from.

All I learned from this review was basically what just about any hobbyist already knew. This is not a $6-7000K Omega. Why not tell us a little about the actual performance of the watch.

In my opinion Swatch and Omega have lost a lot of credibility because of the Moon Swatch. The inavailabilty of the watches even after they almost guaranteed everyone who wanted one would be able to get one was a complete lie.

Everyone who really wants one and makes a little effort (internet comes in handy :-)) can get one nowadays, so it wasn’t such a big lie after all.

Don’t be mad at the fact a company produced a high demand product and you missed out. It happens.

The only real difficulty in these is you have to get them from a swatch store in person, which are admittedly scarce. In my experience these stores readily have almost all of them in stock, all the tim.

I was able to walk in the Swatch store in my local mall and easily purchase one. I chose moon but they had them all. The lady who worked there said they get them in every day and sell out every day. Just need good timing I guess.

It is a real omega it keeps better accuracy than the original with much better technology than the outdated steam engine mechanism of the originals

Did someone really take the time to write an entire article about how a $200 watch is not the same quality as a $6000 watch?

I agree – i just received mine today and it feels cheap as hell. Swatch must be funding all these reviews – its a gimmicy cheap feeling toy watch. For the price buy a nice Tissot

Hi Juan, we can only speak for our magazine, but let me assure you: We did not receive any money for the article. We just thought it would be a nice idea to point out some of the characteristics of the watch in comparison to its iconic design role model. And it was obviously interesting enough for you to get one after all 😉 But there is definitely nothing to say against a nice Tissot either.

I think it is a fair review but you forgot another point of view, bottom up per se. I have always wanted a metal Swatch but haven’t found one that I really like (it doesn’t help that I don’t like chrome). This might just fit the bill. At no time would I kid myself that it replaces a Speedmaster. If I want one I’ll shell out the big bucks. But for a Swatch+, this has a good pedigree.

Certainly the feeling, the plastic cover that supossed to be some good quality glass
the whole watch by itself feels and looks like a cheap piece of plastic, sad to talk about this Omega make believe, for that money we can buy an awesome Seiko automatic, divers grade and stainless case and bracelet. And scratch resistant Real Glass.
overall is a piece of plastic Junk mixed with a fancy wording.

Very plasticlike. Nonwaterproof. I was atemted by the Jupiter Model for the looks and The Omega logo etc but went with The Clealy New Gent wich I Found more Classic Stylish. This design is in practic waterproof too. But good job too the businessmenn at Swatch for the hype.

Tissot is Swatch.

The newer lower-end Tissots are not that great. I bought a Tissot Seastar auto in 1973, it lasted until 2020 when it had fatal heart attack, sent it to Tissot to repair and it couldn’t be repaired so they offered me a PR100 auto 80 for $220 which I took the offer. I had to send that watch back 4 times because the darn thing was running 10 minutes a week fast, they finally on the 4th try got it corrected so it only ran a minute a week fast. For some strange reason, about 3 months ago it started to gain about 15 seconds a week?! Odd. The old Tissot ran about 5 seconds fast a week from the factory and stayed that way all those years. The new Tissot uses some plastic parts in the mechanical workings, the old one didn’t use any plastic; the new Tissot cannot be time corrected, it has a plastic regulator instead that is set by the factory, the old one had a lever you could adjust, when I bought the old one the Jeweler kept the watch for about a week, and he timed the watch before I took possession which is why it ran with such good precision. But it does baffle me that the timekeeping on the new one corrected itself, there is no way it could do that, so I am confused about that, but I’m happy that it did. But with the plastic parts inside I seriously doubt it will last 47 years like the old one did, but I’m 70 years old, so the watch should outlast me…should being the keyword here.

For the money Tissot makes the best automatics, they are considered entry-level luxury watches.

I purchased 3 of them, pink, brown and yellow.
They are a nice watch to look at, have not worn any yet, but they had them available about 10 mins before I get there and me, my wife and my daughter got one each.

I love this collaboration that Omega and Swatch have created.
I have a number of swatch’s (including the legendary 1985 Jellyfish) and only a couple of Omega’s, I will admit I do seem to wear my swatch watches more than I do any other brand in my collection (purely down the swatch being more forgiving if accidentally caught or knocked because of the materials mainly)
Looking forward to collecting all 11 Omega X Swatch MoonSwatch’s

I own a 1968 Speedster Professional (caliber 321) which I love, but am reluctant to wear it as an everyday watch because of its value. Was given a MoonSwatch as a gift. It is basically a fun piece and light as a feather. It was never meant to replace the real thing, so if that is understood, it is a fine addition to your collection.

It’s fun, but it’s not a real Omega, despite what is on the dial.
