Interesting article. How Rolex has that kind of market share is incredible when you can’t walk into one of their stockists a buy one 🙁 🙁

That’s the entire point. Rolex are marketing geniuses, if you could just walk in and buy one, the you might just seen whoever wearing one. They would lose their main asset, the prestige associated with the brand, the very thing that makes people beg to buy a watch. And therefore willing to pay for an overpriced, mass produced watch.

Good article; in terms of innovation, Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement should definitely be included as it overcomes the two distinct issues with mechanical and quartz movements by creating a hybrid movement.

It’s a shame the world of writers doesn’t care about this massive project. Maybe the brand should be doing more marketing.
