I’m not sure the Seamaster is the most famous Omega, I would presume it would be the Speedmaster.

I’d love to be given a Rolex… I’d sell it and buy another Omega 😊
I definitely wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one – I wouldn’t want to be associated with the normal Rolex owner

Considering the price, no Rolex can compare with the Omega professional for its style especially the see-through movement.

Rolex did make a quartz watch. You may need to dig again and revise your statement that Rolex has only made mechanical watches.

Speedmaster presents the best value for the amateur collector. There are so many variations, collectable editions, vintage/modern varieties, and price points. You can buy one for much less than retail and still have a model that is true to NASA mission models. Yes, you give up on the modern functionality, but you have a homage to history and an iconic watch that is fine for a one watch collection or to build around.

Good article, especially the conclusion. I wear a Speedmaster 38, and have previously owned a Sea Dweller, and 3 gold Presidents. I pick Omega, because quite frankly, the Rolex hype with the prices is quite annoying. I get it that young guns think differently, but as you get older, you tend to see through the BS.

An overdue assessment, both thorough and fair.
Excellent article, interesting and useful.
